PLEASE, GO TO BED!!!!!

Well this is the BabyOwls website. We are all here because we can't get our kids to go to sleep. Let's all work together to try and come up with a creative solution to this problem. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE share anything you have tried to get your child to sleep, no matter how crazy it may sound. I'll try anything at this point. Remember this site is written by you! If you would like to submit your sandman tips for all to see click here. I will choose approximately 10-20 per week to post.

Chief Mommy Owl - The original Baby Owl
New baby had a great night! He went to bed at 11p.m. He woke up at 2, then 5, then 7. My four year old woke up at 3. My two year old woke up at 7a.m. for the day. Needless to say, I'm sporting racoon eyes today. Sorry, no words of wisdom for now.

Go ahead and scream - Kristi., California
I have two children. On is 15 months and since he was born he slept in his crib. I would take him out and nurse him in the night untill he turned 3 months. After that if he woke up, I would let him cry untill he fell asleep. he learned very quickly how to soothe himself and to fall back asleep. He is now 15 months and still sleeps throught the night without any problem. My 4 year old was a co-sleeper since he was born. I have had an extremely difficult time with bedtime and sleeping through the night with him. He still wakes up and comes into my bed. He earns positive tickets for going to bed at bedtime which add up to prizes. I still suggest to any parent to start right off with the baby in the crib and allowing him to learn to fall back to sleep on his own starting at 3 months. It makes for a happier, better adjusted baby, and happier less tired and less frustrated parents.
Editor's Note - Very, well said. This has also been my experience.

Bouncy Bouncey- Feona T., Connecticut
I share the bed with my nonsleeping six month old child. The baby had nursed forever and was laying on the bed crying, when on a whim I started to bounce up and down on the bed. The baby stopped crying and looked at me with a strange look. so I just kept on bouncing. Ten minutes later his eyes started to close and within a few minutes of that, he was sound asleep. Now I do this every night and it always works.
Editor's Note - This sounds a little too much like aerobic exercise to me.

Radio Flying off to Sleep- Cheri H., Iowa
My toddler has this little plastic red wagon that we keep in the living room for her to tote around toys. One night (or should I say early morning) out of desperation to entertain my nonsleeping nine month old, I put him in the wagon on a blanket and started pulling it around the kitchen. First he was laughing, then he got quiet and then he started to nod off. When he fell sound asleep I pulled the wagon right into his bedroom and moved him into the crib.

Use your psychic friend- Roberta L., Nevada
Late at night I can't stand the silence in the house, so if I am up with baby I like to put on a little soft music for company. The other night I was listening to one of my favorites, Dionne Warwick, as I walked the baby back and forth across the floor for what seemed like hours. When the song, "What do ya get when you fall in love?" came on I stared subconscioulsy bouncing up and down to the rhythm. Within thirty seconds his eyes started to close and by the end of the song he was asleep. I haven't gotten it to work again, but you better believe I am going to try!

Piano Lessons- Tara R., Texas
I teach piano in the afternoons in my living room. One night when I was up late with the baby I came across an article that suggested using a metronome to get your baby to sleep. I put my daughter in the bassinet and set the metronome up on a small table next to her. She watched it quietly for about twenty minutes and then fell asleep. Right after she fell asleep my husband came out of the bedroom and said that he couldn't sleep because the tapping of the heating pipes was driving him crazy. I didn't tell him.
